There is a long interview in the online The Guardian's Observer magazine on Sunday 20th May (today) - not sure if it is the hard copy issue but suspect it may be. Also another interview online in the Financial Times a day or two ago... :D

Thanks for the heads up! The Observer doesn't share much more than Simm fans already know (that he likes good writers, such as Pinter!), but I always enjoy seeing John featured. The FT gave John much more (appreciated) voice.

What broody piccies ;D:

The Telegraph has published a review here:-

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/theat....ble-review.html

I have to admit that, although I didn't say it in my initial comment over on the other thread, I did think that Ruth Gemmell's performance lacked a little warmth. I love the comment re. John bringing an 'engaging boyish quality to Jerry as well as sudden moments of panic and guilt' and that last scene is wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time.

He's a key witness. So could you treat him like a person, Phyllis. D'you remember "people"? You used to be one!

John is on Radio 4 tonight at 7.15 on Front Row talking to Mark Lawson about Betrayal. Should be available on listen again if you've missed it ;D

I concur with the review and Phyllis. Perhaps Ms Gemmel's performance will improve as the run continues.

Just caught it on listen again. Do radio programmes get put on quicker than TV ones then?

A great interview. Damn! I wish I'd picked up on one thing that John mentions. I won't mention it here in case anyone else spots it and posts about it. Kudos to them if they do ;D

;D I think I know which thing you mean, Phyllis - and I hadn't picked up on it either! We'll be looking out for it next time, though...!

Thanks for the info share Phyllis and jinxed!!

Enjoyed reading the review - . Doesn't John look so much like a bon vivant in that piccie! :-*

Listened to Front Row. As always, love to hear John discuss his work! Mark Lawson could have done a tiny bit more homework, calling John a Yorkshire lad and didn't know the new title of the WInterbottom project. Do catch up Mark! :D: Other than that, very thorough. Ironic enough, praising the pauses in Pinter's play, did seem to zoom right through the interview.

Thanks edzel2 - some really good reviews there. Shame the Guardian one couldn't spell the title properly ::) Think they've changed it now but bad form. I know an English graduate who'd kill for a job like that, and who can spell correctly!

Can anyone copy/paste the 2 Times reviews? Can't access them because I'm too cheap to pay ;D Thanks

Thanks for all the links!!!

I try to be understanding when it comes to spelling, but the TITLE...! No, there's really no excuse. I also thought the review itself poorly written. Done in a hurry, perhaps? Like most things, these days... I swear, there seems to be a common consensus now that everything has to go soooo fast, but I think we're losing out because of it...
